Colorado Top of the Hill Winners Honored at MAXX

At this year’s MAXX Convention in Portland, Oregon, Elevations Credit Union and Northern Colorado Credit Union were recognized with the prestigious Top of the Hill Advocacy Award by the GoWest Credit Union Association. The award honors credit unions that show exceptional leadership in advocacy, grassroots engagement, and public policy influence—ensuring the credit union voice is heard at every level of government.

Elevations Credit Union earned recognition for its deep commitment to advancing pro-credit union legislation and defeating harmful proposals. The credit union’s legal expertise and strategic engagement with the Colorado Judiciary Committee were instrumental in helping defeat a damaging interchange bill by a razor-thin margin. Elevations leaders testified, met with legislators, and mobilized advocates throughout the session. Their work on the State Issues Working Group, Governmental Affairs Committee, and Grassroots and Political Committee showcased their consistent leadership. Elevations also played a vital role in building strong relationships with state and federal policymakers and showing up at key events such as Colorado’s Day at the Capitol and the National Governmental Affairs Conference.

Northern Colorado Credit Union was equally impressive, consistently stepping up to testify, contact legislators, and host advocacy events. By organizing a town hall in their Greeley branch with multiple elected officials, they strengthened local relationships and provided a platform for meaningful dialogue on credit union priorities. Northern Colorado Credit Union also played an active role in the Governmental Affairs Committee, the State Issues Working Group, and at Day at the Capitol, ensuring that Colorado credit unions remain visible and influential on critical issues.

Both credit unions exemplify what it means to lead with purpose and passion—advocating tirelessly to protect the credit union difference and work towards a thriving future for Colorado’s credit unions and their members.
