The Southwest Washington Chapter of Credit Unions hosted its Credit Unions Care Donation Drives July 7-18 in Cowlitz and Clark Counties, partnering with local nonprofits to collect essential items for the community. The impressive results showcase the significant impact this initiative has had on those in need.
Fibre Federal Credit Union and Lower Columbia Longshoremen’s Credit Union collected donations in Cowlitz County for the Emergency Support Shelter (ESS), a nonprofit that provides vital services for individuals impacted by domestic violence. Community contributions of non-perishable food, cleaning supplies, personal hygiene items, and other essentials help support survivors as they work toward safety and stability. In addition, the Chapter donated $2,000 to assist with the purchase of a new dishwasher and other much-needed equipment for the shelter.

Donations ranging from school supplies, hygiene products, and household items helped serve local foster families and meet the essential needs of countless children. The Chapter also donated $2,000, which will be used to purchase small gift cards for older youth, offering them meaningful autonomy in difficult circumstances.
“This shared effort reflects our belief in strengthening communities through collaboration, compassion, and a commitment to giving back,” said Jennifer Small, Chapter President, “As not-for-profit financial cooperatives, credit unions are proud to pool resources and unite our members to make a greater impact on critical community needs.”
In total, 11 credit unions participated in the Credit Unions Care Drive, generating donations that will benefit hundreds of youth, adults, and families within their communities.
