Credit Union Testifies at OR Legislative “Road Show” Hearing
Posted by Pam Leavitt on March 25, 2025

Last Saturday, the first of several hearings hosted by the Joint Committee on Ways and Means was held at Mt. Hood Community College. Working with partner Neighborhood Partnership, OnPoint Community Credit Union hosted a booth ahead of the hearing with coffee and donuts for the legislators and attendees.
Over 400 people filled the theater with standing room only. The goal was to promote important funding for the Individual Development Account, an important program for matched savings to meet financial goals including homeownership, starting a business, post-secondary education and purchasing a vehicle.
Several Oregon credit unions work with savers and OR non-profits on this program. Over 200 people signed up to testify. Erin Moore, Josephine Davis and other team members from OnPoint manned the credit union booth with several IDA advocates. Testifying in support of this fund was Giovani Balderas of OnPoint Community Credit Union. Thank you also to Prashanth Arulsakaran of Trailhead Credit Union for attending.
The next stop for the Ways and Means “Road Show” is this Friday in Astoria. Please contact Pam ([email protected]) if you are interested in attending any of the hearings around the state!
