Arizona Enters Striker Season
Posted by Brooke Parent on February 28, 2025

It’s Striker Season at the Arizona Legislature, and no, we aren’t talking about Spring Training. Every legislative session, there are deadlines for legislators to drop any bills. However, that doesn’t mean there’s no other way to introduce legislation throughout the session.
Many legislators will introduce “placeholder” bills while they finalize conversations and text language for the bills they actually want to run if they are up against a calendar deadline. In Arizona, legislators can propose a “strike everything” amendment to a bill. As the name suggests, the amendment strikes the original bill text language and replaces it with something entirely different. It could be brand-new language in the same category or even an entirely brand-new bill and title name. Strike everything amendments can also be used to revive a piece of legislation that has died in an earlier part of the session.
For all of us here in Arizona, legislation isn’t truly dead until we Sine Die. We are on the lookout for any striker amendments that will affect credit unions in Arizona.
