O Bee Credit Union, based in Lacey, Wash., has been named one of America’s Best Regional Credit Unions for 2025 by Newsweek, a prestigious honor placing it among the top financial institutions in the nation. The award recognizes O Bee’s dedication to members and its mission-driven approach to banking.
This national accolade builds on other local awards that O Bee won in 2024, including Seattle Times’ Best in the PNW, Best of the South Sound, and Showcase Magazine’s Best of 2024. Beyond these awards, O Bee was recognized in 2024 for returning more than $10.6 million in direct financial benefits to its members compared to local bank competitors.
“Being recognized as one of the best credit unions in the country is a testament to our team’s dedication to putting members first,” said O Bee’s CEO, Andrew Downin. “At O Bee, we are more than a financial institution – we’re a partner in the communities we serve.”
Newsweek evaluated more than 4,500 credit unions using financial metrics, consumer surveys, social media reviews, and press coverage to select the top 500. O Bee stood out for its focus on member satisfaction, competitive rates, and active community involvement.
Founded in 1955 to serve Olympia Brewery employees, O Bee Credit Union has grown to serve members across Washington while staying true to its cooperative roots. O Bee continues to support local events, small businesses, and financial education initiatives.
