Get Prepared for Your Time at MAXX: A Get-Ready Guide

GoWest’s signature event, MAXX 2024, is right around the corner! Whether it’s your first time at MAXX or you’re a seasoned veteran, we’re excited to have you join us!

In anticipation of your arrival, we’ve taken out the guesswork on what to expect in our MAXX 2024 Get-Ready Guide.

Before the Conference

Download the GoWest Events app and check out this article with tips on logging in and using the app the make the most out of your time at MAXX.

Check the weather in Denver. The forecast looks amazing for Oct. 13-16 in Denver, but things change quickly in Colorado. As Denverites like to say, “Don’t like the weather? Wait fifteen minutes!”

What to Pack

Dress code

  • Daytime – Dress is business casual for daytime events. Dress in layers as different rooms and halls may be warmer or cooler than others.
  • CU4Kids Diamond Roundup Benefit Auction – Come in your Hollywood Western attire – blending the glitter of the Rhinestone Cowboy and the energy of Dolly Parton – to get in the spirit of the evening.
  • GoWest Award Dinner & Gala – Bring cocktail or semi-formal attire for this evening of awards.

Shoes
There’s a lot of walking at MAXX. Make sure you have more than one pair of comfortable shoes for the busy days ahead. Your feet will thank you.

Business cards
MAXX is a great opportunity to make new connections, so come prepared with plenty of business cards.

At the Conference

Getting to the Gaylord Rockies Resort & Conference Center from the Denver International Airport is easy. By taxi, Uber, or Lyft, it’s a short 8-minute drive.

Locate the registration desk at the Valley Foyer at Gaylord Rockies Resort & Convention Center to pick up your registration packet, which includes your name badge and MAXX tote. Stop by the desk at any point during the conference for assistance. We are happy to help you locate sessions and answer any questions that come up during your time in Denver

Take notes during or immediately after sessions while the content is fresh in your mind. Please use the MAXX app surveys to let us know what you think of the programming.

Networking events: MAXX is an excellent place for networking with peers. Receptions and networking breaks are designed to help you create lasting professional relationships and meet with hundreds of other credit union peers. Check out more about networking opportunities HERE.

Leverage technology to connect. The “shake” feature in the GoWest Events MAXX app makes networking easy. For a completely contactless way to exchange business and contact details with a peer, simply shake your phone next to theirs — your information will transfer instantly. You can also message contacts right from the app.

Attend a session that is not directly related to your current job responsibilities. You may discover new ideas or collaborators where you least expect them.

Drink lots of water! While it’s always a good idea to stay hydrated, Denver’s high altitude – it is the Mile High City – makes hydration even more important. Plan on drinking at least twice as much water as you normally would.

When You Get Home

Present right away! Share what you learned with your co-workers, supervisor, board, or staff. This will help you bring your MAXX experience back to your credit union and anchor your new knowledge.

Follow up with the contacts you made while networking.

Offer your suggestions. Shortly after MAXX ends, GoWest will send you a brief survey. Please share your feedback so we can make MAXX 2025 even better!

If you haven’t signed up for MAXX 2024 yet, it’s not too late. Learn more and register today!
