Copper State Credit Union Supports Arizona Foster Families for Over a Decade

When Copper State Credit Union, based in Phoenix, Arizona, first started partnering with The Foster Alliance over 11 years ago, it quickly learned that they were strongly aligned on core values.

Although Copper State Credit Union and The Foster Alliance have grown throughout the years, their shared value of helping families has remained constant and only strengthened their partnership.

The Foster Alliance, founded in 1998, is a nonprofit organization providing the basic essential needs of children in the foster care system in Arizona. Its services support children in foster care with items, including beds, clothing, diapers, hygiene items, and even birthday gifts. Arizona has more than 12,000 children in foster care across the state and less than 3,000 foster families registered. The Foster Alliance helps families become licensed providers and maintain safe home environments by offering free state-required home safety items. It spends 93 cents of every donated dollar on its programs and receives no government funding.

“At the end of the day, The Foster Alliance is putting their community and children at the forefront of their mission,” said President and CEO of Copper State Credit Union Robb Scott. “These children will grow up and be the ones to lead this country. As long as there is a need for foster care, it is crucial we do our part to support and provide for our Arizona foster families.”

Volunteering has always been an extremely positive and rewarding experience for the staff at Copper State Credit Union. It excites them to see the relationships between staff and The Foster Alliance bloom inside and outside of the workplace.

“It was such a good feeling to see just how much the team at The Foster Alliance has accomplished for the families,” said Margarite Nowlin, Executive Assistant at Copper State Credit Union. “We were all so impressed with the warehouse full of items ready to distribute. You can see that each team member is invested in changing lives. They were so welcoming to all of us and I left wanting to go back with my own family to share the wonderful feeling when you’re making a difference in someone’s life!”

Copper State Credit Union looks forward to continuing its partnership with The Foster Alliance as foster allies.
