Solarity Concludes Successful Coat Drive for YWCA Yakima

On Nov. 9, the Yakima, Washington-based Solarity Credit Union successfully concluded its 2023 winter coat drive, collecting more than 100 cold weather items for donation to YWCA Yakima.

The initiative aimed to collect essential cold weather gear for those in need as temperatures drop. The generous response from Solarity members, employees, and the local community exceeded expectations, resulting in a significant collection of warm coats, jackets, hats, and other winter essentials.

“We appreciated the incredible support from our community, as always,” said Solarity President and CEO Mina Worthington. “The generosity displayed by our members, employees, and the community at large reflects our shared commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others.”

All collected items were donated to YWCA Yakima, a local organization dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing place for victims of domestic violence. The YWCA provides a range of vital services to individuals and families in need, including shelter, advocacy, and support programs.

“Solarity Credit Union’s commitment to the community aligns perfectly with our mission,” said YWCA Executive Director Cheri Kilty. “We are grateful for their support, and these cold weather items will undoubtedly make a significant difference in the lives of those we serve, especially as we approach the winter season.”

This coat drive is just one of the many ways Solarity Credit Union supports the YWCA, which is one of its community partners. The credit union does several donation drives each year, and Solarity employees make regular payroll donations to the YWCA. In addition, Solarity Credit Union actively participates in community outreach, seeking opportunities to support local initiatives and improve the lives of its members and the community.
