Oregon’s Financial Education Bill Signed into Law

SB3, which makes financial education a graduation requirement, was signed into law

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek signed Senate Bill 3 into law on July 31^st! The GoWest Credit Union Assoc. worked with Senate leadership and the OR Dept. of Education on SB3 to update graduation requirements and made a recommendation that future planning credit requirements be added. This legislation adds a half-credit for higher education and career path skills and a half-credit for personal financial education to graduation requirements starting in 2027. This follows her signature on HB3200, an update to the Oregon Credit Union Act signed on May 8^th.
