Pay Range: The target annual pay range for this position is $162,183 – $202,729. The full annual pay range is $162,183 – $243,275.

  • We provide an additional $2.00 per hour bilingual differential for those employees who can support our members’ financial needs effectively in a second language; subject to verification of strong grasp of financial terms utilizing language skillset.
  • Compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer of employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

Job Overview: This position is responsible for leading and mentoring engineering teams, driving the delivery of scalable, high quality software solutions while aligning development efforts with business goals. Oversees technical execution, architectural decisions, DevOps practices, and security compliance while fostering an environment of innovation, continuous learning, and operational excellence. Implements effective agile methodologies, resource planning, and stakeholder collaboration, ensures teams deliver high impact solutions with efficiency and reliability. Drives innovation by continuously evaluating emerging technologies including Ai, edge computing, and developer experience platforms to align engineering practices with future business needs.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Manages team workloads, sprint planning, and project timelines for efficient project delivery.
  • Oversees the entire software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to best practices in software design, cloud infrastructure, and security.
  • Collaborates with Software Architects to implement scalable microservices and distributed systems, while adopting CI/CD pipelines and automated testing strategies.
  • Evaluates and integrates emerging technologies to enhance development efficiency.
  • Implements Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) to streamline development processes and ensure timely delivery.
  • Promotes DevOps best practices with a focus on continuous integration, deployment, and site reliability engineering.
  • Maintains coding standards and compliance frameworks while managing technical debt and scalability planning.
  • Ensures adherence to security best practices, secure coding techniques, and vulnerability management.
  • Collaborates with security teams to enforce compliance with regulatory standards and lead incident response efforts.
  • Bridges the gap between engineering, product management, and business teams, translating technical challenges into actionable solutions.
  • Provides updates to executives on project progress, risks, and strategic initiatives to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Guides, mentors, and cultivates a high-performing team of software engineers by offering technical direction and supporting their career growth. Fosters a collaborative and accountable team culture, while monitoring performance metrics to assess team productivity and code quality. Oversees hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews for engineers across all experience levels.
  • Oversees the development of microservices and event-driven architectures, integrating cutting-edge technologies such as Ai/ML, Generative Ai, and serverless computing, while leading and mentoring engineering teams, driving the delivery of scalable, high-quality software solutions.
  • All other duties as assigned.

When You’ll Be Working: Remote role open to candidates residing in Washington (WA) or Oregon (OR).

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in software engineering and architecture, with three (3) years of experience managing cross-functional software engineering teams through the full development lifecycle, overseeing sprint planning, project timelines, and adherence to best practices in cloud infrastructure, security, and Agile methodologies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field of study.
  • Relevant cloud and DevOps certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional Cloud Architect)

Bonus Points If You Have: 

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science/ Data Science or related field of study.
  • Certifications: Advanced cloud or application development certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect)

What You’ll Bring:

  • Experience leading teams in full-stack development, microservices, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation (Terraform, Bicep), and DevOps strategies.
  • Deep understanding of security best practices, compliance standards (SOC 2, ISO 27001, PCIDSS), and system observability (tracing, distributed logs, SIEM).
  • Proven ability to optimize performance, scalability, reliability, and software delivery processes.
  • Expertise in modern front-end (React, Next.js) and backend (Node.js, .NET, Python) technologies, with awareness of emerging trends (AI/ML, WebAssembly, GraphQL, edge computing).
  • Experience implementing robust unit, integration, performance testing, and fault tolerance strategies.
  • Ability to coach and mentor engineers, provide technical guidance, and support career growth.
  • Skilled at aligning engineering initiatives with business goals, managing budgets, resources, and technical roadmaps, and executing iterative development (sprint planning, backlog management).
  • Excellent cross-functional collaborator with product, design, security, and executive teams; adept at mediating technical discussions and resolving roadblocks.
  • Strong communicator able to translate complex technical concepts for varied audiences, advocate for engineering best practices, and deliver executive-level reporting.
  • Familiarity with Ai-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, etc.) and ability to evaluate their impact on engineering workflows.
