National Credit Union Youth Month
April is National Credit Union Youth Month and National Financial Literacy Month! While credit unions take financial education seriously all year long, this month provides you with even more opportunities to work with your members and community partners to promote financial wellness.
To help your credit union tailor its efforts to youth members, GoWest encourages you to promote the theme, “Ready, Set, Save!” because when kids learn about the importance of saving money for the future, they are laying the foundation for financial success! To echo this concept in your activities, there are a number of materials for your credit union to use. The hashtag #CUYouthMonth can also be utilized on social media to demonstrate the power of our collaborative efforts.
Download the customizable blog posts and eye-catching infographics below, and feel free to share them far and wide — on your website, in a newsletter, or on social media!
Thank you to the Maine Credit Union League for these resources.

Saving is easier — and more exciting — when there’s a goal in sight!
Just like adults, kids are more motivated to save when they’re working toward something special. Help them choose a goal, remind them why they’re saving when spending feels tempting, and cheer them on along the way. #CUYouthMonth #ReadySetSave

Sometimes the simplest lessons are the most powerful.
Try using a clear jar for savings at home so kids can actually see their progress grow each day. Watching those dollars add up turns spare change into motivation—and motivation into celebration!
When they finally reach their goal, they won’t just be excited about what they can buy, they’ll be proud of what they accomplished. And that confidence? Priceless.
