Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:


  • Supports decisions pertaining to/manages the Credit Union’s investment portfolio, includes understanding and measuring the risk of the portfolio, developing investment strategies to optimize liquidity and returns, executing trades in accordance with organizational policies, regulations and investment strategies that further organizational goals, evaluation of investment results and management reporting.
  • Monitor industry and market trends; establish professional relationships with brokers.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting team to monitor and manage the Credit Union’s cash levels and liquidity risk.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies and in accordance with regulations, legal requirements and industry trends.
  • Assist ALCO (Asset/Liability Management Committee) by preparing data and reports.
  • Research, evaluate, resolve and report on emerging issues related to investments, liquidity risk, interest rate risk, concentration risk, risk-based capital, and hedging.

Regulatory & Compliance

  • Work directly with external auditors and examiners.
  • Supports or may direct the Procurement and Business Spending process for the Credit Union


  • Completes financial analyses of Company cash flow, investments, banking relationships, debt management, etc. Develops and implements improvements as appropriate.
  • Provide analysis, trending and forecasting for product profitability, asset profitability and other strategic initiatives.
  • In conjunction with organization priority, serve as business partner to internal departments with forecasting and analytical needs
  • Perform various ad hoc financial analyses.

Leadership & Management

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit union employees, departments and management.
  • Establishes and maintains effective business relations with vendors, outside auditors and regulators, and other internal departments. May act as liaison.
  • Ensures the Credit Union’s and Department’s professional reputation is maintained. Ensures appropriate levels of confidentiality regarding Company operations.
  • As applicable, drives optimal staff performance with coaching and development, assessing and appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining and resolving issues.
  • Effectively supervises personnel as appropriate, ensuring optimal performance.
  • Provides leadership to personnel through effective communication. Conducts meetings or other to ensure that employees are well informed of changes in programs, policies, and procedures.
  • As applicable, hires and retains high-performing, qualified employees. Motivates and develops employees through coaching, training and assignment of challenging work. Responsible for employee performance appraisals and documenting employee concerns and/or disciplinary actions.
  • Cultivate a team-oriented, problem solving culture focused on delivering quality solutions which facilitate business success. Promote credit union and department strategic plans, goals, strategies, and projects.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, business or a related field; CPA preferred and/or equivalent work experience in a complex organization.

Five or more years of high level accounting experience. Three or more years of supervisory experience.

  • Understanding of accounting for an organization with multiple layers of complexity.
  • Excellent leadership and abilities to collaborate effectively with others at levels of the organization.
  • Able to use all related hardware and software.
