Job Description:

Minimum Qualifications:    

BA in Business Administration with Accounting Major or related field; OR equivalent work experience in the financial industry with emphasis on accounting.

Must possess good oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.  Possess good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize duties and perform them with minimal supervision.  Must be highly skilled in the use of computer technology.  Some IT knowledge preferred.

Brief Summary:

The Accounting Specialist completes routine accounting processes.  Ensures the overall accuracy and integrity of all financial records of the Credit Union.  Assists with external audits and examinations and regulatory filings.  Assists with special projects as assigned.

Basic Duties:

Printing of daily reports and notices for distribution to appropriate staff

Oversee posting and balancing of prior day activity, including balancing Shared Branching and Plastic Cards activity

Process Accounts Payable ensuring that all bills are reviewed for accuracy and paid in a timely manner

Payroll GL Posting (including reconciling payroll tax reports to PayChex printouts)

VISA charge back processing

Maintain investment subsidiary ledgers

Reconcile bank statements and investment statements

Prepare and post monthly accruals and other closing entries (close books by 10th of month)

Preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements and board reports

Process annual personal property tax assessment form

Process annual unclaimed property report (work stale dated checks and dormant account reports)

Ensure monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports accurately reflect the CU’s financial condition
