Accounting Representative
Job Description:
As an Accounting Representative, you will be a critical part of our accounting team, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of a variety of transactions. Helps to compute, classify, and record numerical data to keep financial records complete. Performs any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. Interacts with internal and external members or vendors to gather information, resolve conflicts, and complete work on schedule.
Essential Functions:
1. Proficiency in spreadsheet, word processing, and database software applications and accurate 10-key skills are required.
2. Must have ability to work with numbers, perform calculations, troubleshoot balancing errors, and maintain accuracy in detailed-oriented basic accounting activities.
3. Must have good analytical and problem-solving skills.
4. Must be reliable in meeting exacting or highly accurate work results, strict deadlines, and prompt and friendly service delivery.
5. Requires working with others in a group or team and the ability to remain flexible despite interruptions and/or routine changes to priorities and/or job duties.
6. Process member vacation funds, by manual input, or transfer of file from Excel to the main computer system for automatic posting. Balances payrolls once posting is completed. Find and rectify discrepancies.
7. Reconciles assigned general ledger accounts on a daily basis.
8. Backup for share draft and ACH processing. Determines necessary action on each overdraft and ACH exception. Completes report processing by established deadlines.
9. Opening new accounts as needed.
10. Orders and/or blocks and performs maintenance on ATM, debit or VISA cards as necessary.
11. Will perform a variety of basic accounting functions such as: daily remittances, general ledger postings, matches business checks to statements and ships to members, sends member daily notices, completes month end postings.
12. Will process union dues payments as well as PAC and MRP postings, as requested, by various Locals.
13. May be responsible for the accounts payable function, issuing checks for the payment of Credit Union bills. Bills must be paid monthly in a timely manner.
14. Must also perform any other duties, including filling in in other department as assigned by the Senior Accounting Rep and/or Management.
15. Must adhere to Credit Union employee performance standards.

Basic Skills Required:
Two years of job related or similar experience including knowledge of basic accounting and completion of college-level course work in bookkeeping or accounting is preferred.
