Job Description:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
·         ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES – Manage past due loans and communicate with members as needed. Be the primary reviewer/responder to email referrals, voicemails, and requests for loan information originating on our website. Assist members with servicing needs such as statement requests, setting up automatic loan payments, wire transfers, loan payoffs, etc. Scan file contents to OnBase for records management. Monitor and maintain various weekly or monthly business status reports including paid loans, delinquency, or maturity review.
·         BUSINESS LENDING & PROCESSING – Working knowledge of business and consumer loan products. Primary product focus are credit cards, lines of credit, vehicle, and equipment loans that are below $100,000. A Loan Specialist I does not have loan underwriting/approval authority, but they may assist with origination of business loan requests, collection of necessary documentation, and preparation of loan documents while acting as a primary contact point in responding to business loan referrals from branch staff, the Contact Center, or outside parties. They should communicate in a professional manner to ensure member retention and provide excellent quality service.

·         A Loan Specialist I may support lending decisions by evaluating and analyzing the financial condition of individuals and businesses and their repayment ability. They should understand proposed loan terms and make limited observations about the financial prospects of various loan requests and provide support to BLSIIs and the ABLM with the preparation and presentation of new loan packages.

·         COMPLIANCE – Comply with credit union policy and procedures through review of credit files, collateral records and loan agreements. Possess a cursory understanding of the rules and regulations associated with business lending as dictated by the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions (DFI), Washington Administrative Code (WAC) and the National Credit Union Association (NCUA).

·         Complete ongoing education through successful completion of courses identified as requirements or electives by Red Canoe Credit Union.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
·         Internal understanding of Credit Union philosophy.
·         Basic understanding of business loan products and required loan documentation.
·         Experience with UCC search and filings.
·         Basic knowledge of commercial loan compliance and regulation preferred (e.g., Reg. Z, Reg. B, FIRREA, HMDA)
·         PC proficiency with knowledge of Excel and Word.
·         Operational experience in new accounts, deposit products, consumer lending, etc.
·         High school diploma or equivalent.
·         Keyboard proficiency; typing speed of 30 WPM.
·         Ability to read English by sight; and speak and write English.
·         Ability to hear by telephone and in person.

 

JOB RELATIONSHIPS
·         This position reports directly to the VP of Business Lending and may have daily contact with the Assistant Business Lending Manger, Business Loan Officer(s) and Business Loan Specialists, other credit union employees, management team, members, Board of Directors, and outside organizations.

 

ESSENTIAL MENTAL, PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
·         General – While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
·         Physical – Office mobility required. Approximately 20% standing, 70% sitting, 10% walking, as need demands. Possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate standard office equipment including a computer or typewriter keyboard, 10-key calculator, facsimile machine, photocopier and telephone. Other demands include talking, handling & reaching; seeing (corrected vision) and hearing in normal range. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. A telephone device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed. Occasional light lifting. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Periodic inter-branch or interdepartmental access may be required, including for distribution and access to various materials, equipment, meetings, etc. Storage and retrieval of materials, maximum reach required is 84 inches.
·         Mental – Mental effort required involving considerable organization, planning and analytical efforts with superior communication. General demands include: alertness, memory, observation, empathy, ingenuity, learning ability, problem solving; patience; initiative; memory; objectivity, creativity, speaking ability, reading and writing ability, judgment, persuasiveness, concentration, flexibility, precision, and auditory discrimination.
·         Environmental – Minimal discomfort from heat, dust, air conditioning. The noise level is usually moderate, including external road noise. Transport within remote branch and/or main office/facility may be single or multilevel (as required) including a variety of stairways, elevators, etc. Exposure to computer and other electronic equipment. Lunch/break area exposed to microwave; and, is located in basement at main office. Facility is 100% free of tobacco smoke.
·         Equipment – Essential equipment used includes, but may not be limited to: telephone, personal computer, other on-line computer terminal(s), calculator, and office security systems. Non-essential equipment generally includes paper shredder, photocopy machine, facsimile (fax) machine, etc.
