Collections Representative – Teller
Job Description:
- Contacts delinquent accounts by sending pre-generated notices at 16 days delinquent and calling members by phone. Records contacts and sets follow-up date in the computer to review account activity. Works from monthly delinquency report.
- Ascertains from member contacts the reason for the delinquency and assists the member in developing plans to bring the account to a current status.
- Discusses options with members such as skip a payment or loan modifications. Mails necessary applications or documents to members.
- Prepares and processes Small Claims Court documents. Acts as credit union liaison with process server. Acts as credit union representative at Small Claims Court proceedings. Files for default judgments and monitors judgments for payment or to renew before expiration.
- Responsible for communicating with Collections Manager about accounts under 60 days delinquent that are cause for elevated concern, such as bankruptcy accounts and skip tracing accounts.
- Respond to impound notices and required follow up.
- Filing of claims for reimbursement of repossession costs.
- Process incoming IRS Levies and garnishments.
- Maintains filing for Collections department.
Member Services Representative
- Performs all types of monetary/non-monetary transactions within established limits to prevent fraud and losses.
- Maintains and balances assigned cash drawer daily and follows security procedures and assigned cash limits.
- Recognizes members’ needs to proactively open, maintain and update personal accounts and refer members to other services such as loan services and investment services.
- Provide information on marketing promotions in order to effectively offer all Credit Union products and services, utilizing the Credit Union’s refer program.
- Provides routine information on credit union services, policies, membership eligibility, type of credit union accounts, inquiries regarding account balance, status and history.
- Completes appropriate documents and refers them to Accounting/Electronic Services for assistance when necessary.
- Balance, replenish cash and complete documentation for ATM
- Completes job assignments delegated by MSR Coordinator.
- Responsible for complying with all laws, statutes, rules and regulations which govern the credit union, including but not limited to all components of the Bank Secrecy Act provisions of the US Patriot Act.
- Participate in required meetings and training.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Job Experience: Minimum of one year in customer service including cash handling, preferably in a retail services environment. One year Collections experience required. Knowledge of advanced cross servicing techniques in order to cross service to members competently.
Software Skills: Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
Physical Demands: Required to sit for extended periods and occasional walking to provide member services. Required to lift up to 50 lbs. (coin bags). Noise level moderate to high in immediate area and normal range of hearing necessary to communicate by telephone and in person with staff and members.
Work Conditions: Regular work day with occasional overtime. Ability to travel to branch locations. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions (robbery).
Other Skills: Ability to analyze potential delinquent loan problems. Strong organizational and analytical skills required to resolve member/staff questions or problems. Must maintain a high degree of accuracy in handling cash, balancing a cash drawer and entering member transactions into the computer. Must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills to represent the Credit Union professionally and positively to members and to interact daily with staff and management. Ability to exercise judgment and maintain confidentiality in dealing with membership and staff. Ability to complete or resume tasks despite interruptions.
