BIOGRAPHY:
Mary Vasquez has been a part of the Point West Credit Union family for over 16 years and currently serves as its Community Advocate. She began as a teller, and through hard work and dedication, climbed the ranks to become a Loan Officer before taking her current position.
Mary graduated from Clark College in 2015 with an Associate Degree and is a Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor. She was the sole representative of the Northwest region to participate in the credit union exchange program through WOCCU in the Dominican Republic. She has received multiple certificates of achievement from Mt. Hood Community College including Financial Management, Consumer Lending, Professional Development and Credit Union Management.
Mary was the recipient of the 2019 Young Credit Union Leader Award at MAXX through the Northwest Credit Union Association (now GoWest Credit Union Association). Mary was selected to represent the state of Oregon as a GAC Crasher through the Credit Union National Association in Washington DC.
Mary is a first generation immigrant and has been a Washington resident since 1997 after spending her childhood in Michoacan, Mexico.
Mary serves as a board member and sits on committees with non-profit organizations such as Bienestar and Hacienda CDC who are organizations that are committed to providing affordable housing for low-income families. One of Mary’s missions in life is to continue helping people in underserved communities by providing them with financial stability and education so they can have a fair chance to build wealth for themselves and their loved ones. She firmly believes that everyone should have the right to live the American dream!
