Washington Credit Unions Meet with Rep. Strickland
Posted by Evan Brandaw on October 31, 2025
Washington credit union advocates met with Rep. Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) in Tacoma to share how credit unions are serving more than 5.5 million Washingtonians—70% of the state’s population.
Credit unions shared details of how they are stepping up to help support impacted members during the government shutdown. They also spent a great deal of time discussing how they are working on affordable housing solutions in their communities.
Leaders also highlighted key priorities, including preserving the credit union tax status, modernizing the Federal Credit Union Act, advancing the Taskforce for Recognizing and Averting Payment Scams (TRAPS) Act, and safeguarding the Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) program.
Thank you to Rep. Strickland and the Washington credit union advocates who joined the conversation!
